St Elizabeth Church of Ireland, Dundonald

ST ELIZABETHS HISTORY

St Elizabeths Church of Ireland

The first mention of the church at Dundonald is in the earliest recorded Ecclesiatical Taxation of Ireland in the year 1306. The current Old Church dates back to the beginning of the 18th century; the tower was added in 1774 and the chancel in 1897. The new church was completed in 1966 and the old church was deconsecrated in 1967. The only items transferred from the old church were the brass lectern and the font. The organ came from St Barnabas in Dublin which closed in 1965.

St. Elizabeth's is a friendly community of Christian's living in and around Dundonald. We have discovered that our deepest need is met in turning back to God and living His Way in His Word.

During the last few years St. Elizabeth's has seen a steady but sure growth in the number of people of all ages attending. With the establishing of a staff team and an increase is giving the work of bible teaching and evangelism has continued to thrive and we trust will continue to do so in the years that lie ahead.
